Specialties

As an associate attorney at BrownWinick Law Firm, I work primarily in the intellectual property practice group. Every business needs to actively manage and protect their Intellectual property. I help you understand and obtain intellectual property rights, enforce and monetize your intellectual property, and defend against accusations of infringement. As your attorney, it is my job to help make sure you have the protection you need by getting to know you and listening to your goals and objectives.

My Approach

Intellectual property law is more than just a job to me, I strive to find an effective legal solution that caters to your needs and protects your intellectual property. I believe the best way to develop an effective legal solution is by listening to your ideas, goals, interests, questions and concerns. I strive to understand your invention, idea, brand, or creative work you want to be protected or you want your intellectual property rights to be enforced. I will help you understand your options and legal strategies for obtaining protection, enforcing your rights, or resolving particular situations.

More About Me

I was born in Wisconsin and raised in Minnesota. I have always been involved in the sciences growing up. That passion continued during college. I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in genetics with a double major in history. I also studied in one of the top microbial and bacteriology research labs at UW Madison. During my time at UW Madison, I realized my passion was learning about others’ inventions and helping them figure out how to protect it. That was what led me to go to law school at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. While in law school, I was President of the Intellectual Property Law Society and participated in the Appellate Immigration clinic. I had the opportunity to argue before the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals during my second year of law school.

After graduating law school in 2017, I moved to Des Moines and worked for a Des Moines intellectual property law firm for six years. During my time there, I prosecuted various patent applications in a wide range of industries and helped clients protect their trademarks. I was selected as a Great Plains Rising Stars by Super Lawyers in 2021, 2022, and 2023. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, kids, and dogs.
