More About Me

I am a lifelong Des Moines resident and earned my undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Grinnell College and my J.D., with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law. I am a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and am admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal and Eighth Circuits, and the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa. 

I am AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and have been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for more than a decade. I am also a Fellow of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers and have held leadership roles in the Blackstone Inn of Court, the Iowa State Bar Association and the Iowa Intellectual Property Law Association. 

In addition to my legal practice, I am a recognized speaker on intellectual property and technology legal issues. I have authored multiple books on internet law and regularly speak on topics including artificial intelligence, online regulation, and IP strategy at both national and local levels.
