Specialties

I am a member of the BrownWinick Law Firm. I have practiced in the estate planning, probate and trust administration area for over 30 years, providing my clients guidance in transferring business interests, real estate and other assets to family, friends, and charity during life and at death. Every client is unique, and each day offers challenges to address a client's needs and provide solutions to meet a client's goals.

My Approach

My role with you is as a trusted advisor and problem solver. I listen to my clients and create plans and strategies to accomplish your goals with careful consideration of tax implications and family/business dynamics. I craft a unique plan for your situation and then ensure that you understand the plan, understand how and why it works, and how to implement it. My representation does not necessarily end with the implementation of the initial plan, but as you walk through life, as an advisor and problem solver, I help you build on your plan, make revisions and address the inevitable changes that life brings.

More About Me

I grew up in northern Iowa in a family of eight children. I wanted to put some distance between me and my protective siblings, and moved to Worcester, MA, where I attended the College of the Holy Cross and earned a BA in Economics and Accounting. I passed the CPA exam and then went to law school. I earned a J.D. from the University of Iowa in 1991. Following graduation from law school, I moved to Phoenix, AZ and practiced at Snell & Wilmer. I met and married my husband who was from my hometown. After we started a family, we moved back to the Midwest where I have practiced law since. I serve on several charitable and non-profit boards in the Des Moines area.

I am licensed to practice in both Iowa and Arizona. I am a member of the Polk County and Iowa Bar Associations. Since 2007, I have been selected by my peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers® in the areas of Trusts and Estates. I am a member of the Iowa Academy of Trust and Estate Counsel.
