Specialties

I enjoy getting to know my clients, their businesses and the issues that they are facing.  When my clients come to me for advice, I enjoy putting my years of experience and perspective together with the information I know about them to solve their issues in a practical, cost effective manner.

My Approach

Traditionally, lawyers were taught to “counsel” or provide sound advice to their clients.  I strive not only to provide counsel and “sound advice” but strive to understand my clients business and the situation that they are facing so that the advice that I give to them is not only sound advice, but practical advice that is tailored to the business, industry and individual situation that they are facing.  My clients value our relationship and appreciate not getting a 20 page memo that doesn't answer the question they need answered.

More About Me

I was born and raised in Nebraska.  Yes, I'm a Husker Fan (which is harder now than it was when I attended) having completed both my undergraduate studies and law degree at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, graduating with distinction from both in 1983 and 1986 respectively.  I'm licensed to practice in Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado.

After graduating from law school I moved to Des Moines and joined BrownWinick.  While at BrownWinick I've served multiple terms on the firm's Executive Committee as well as the chair of its Corporate Practice Group.

When I'm away from the office I enjoy traveling, biking and golf.  Over the years I've been involved with a number of civic, non-profit and charitable organizations.
