Immigration
BrownWinick helps employers across the country recruit, hire, transfer, and retain international professionals. We advise companies and institutions on work visas, employment-based green cards, immigration compliance, and workforce planning. Based in the Midwest, we provide responsive counsel at competitive rates.
Employment-Based Immigration Attorneys
Our clients include health systems, colleges and universities, manufacturers, agribusinesses, technology companies, and other employers. We work directly with HR leaders, in-house counsel, executives, and employees to evaluate options, manage deadlines, and move matters forward.
Employment-based immigration services
Temporary work visas and employer sponsorship. We assist employers with H-1B cap registration and sponsorship, L-1 intracompany transfers, O-1 extraordinary ability petitions, TN status for Canadian and Mexican professionals, E-3 visas for Australian professionals, E-2 treaty investor visas, and P visas for athletes and entertainers.
Employment-based green cards and permanent residency. We represent employers and employees in PERM labor certification, EB-1 and EB-2 petitions, National Interest Waivers, adjustment of status, consular processing, and permanent residence planning for employees and their families.
Physician and healthcare immigration. We advise health systems, clinics, universities, and physicians on J-1 physician waivers through Conrad 30, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Appalachian Regional Commission. We also handle H-1B sponsorship for residents, fellows, and attending physicians, along with permanent residence planning for clinical and academic roles.
Higher education and cap-exempt H-1B sponsorship. We help colleges, universities, affiliated nonprofit entities, and research organizations sponsor faculty members, researchers, and postdoctoral appointees. This includes determining whether an employer or position qualifies for H-1B cap exemption and sponsorship outside the annual lottery.
Form I-9 and E-Verify compliance. We conduct internal I-9 audits, develop immigration compliance policies, train HR teams, provide E-Verify guidance, and assist employers responding to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Notices of Inspection.

Immigration matters often involve fixed filing periods and workforce deadlines. If your organization is evaluating a candidate, planning an international transfer, responding to a Form I-9 issue, or considering options after a request for evidence or denial, contact our practice group lead, Matt Mauntel-Medici, to request a consultation.
