Taking Care of Business Conference

BrownWinick is proud to be a sponsor at the 2024 Iowa Association of Business and Industry's Taking Care of Business Conference.  The Taking Care of Business Conference will be held June 4-6, 2024 in the Quad Cities this year at The RiverCenter. This Conference is Iowa's premier business conference, bringing together industry leaders to learn, network and share ideas on how to grow and strengthen Iowa's business climate. 

BrownWinick's attorneys Danielle Smid, Cindy Lande, and Ben Merrill will present at one of the many workshops at the 2024 Taking Care of Business Conference. The workshops are scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2024 throughout the day.  The title of BrownWinick's workshop is "Watch Out for the Latest in the Labor World". The law is rapidly changing in the labor world, and 2023 has seen a significant uptick in labor strikes and threats of strikes in light of these changes. Employers need to be aware of what to watch out for. Danielle, Cindy, and Ben will discuss what they have seen lately with respect to new NLRB decisions that affect union organization, negotiating union contracts, responding to issues raised by unions (particularly on the benefits side), high profile organization attempts, and strikers and protections of the non-union employees right to engage in collective activity.

The workshop's participants (both union and non-union employers) learning objectives and take-away would include:

• Be mindful of both NLRB and union activity
  • how it can affect your workforce, and
  • steps you can take proactively to minimize disruptions to your business.
