Specialties

My role as an attorney is listening to the issues and objectives that the client brings and creating tailored solutions that meet the client's individual needs. My primary practice involves tax matters at the state and federal level, transactional corporate law,  M&A, and business succession planning. I want to be right beside you every step of the way, from formation of the business, to structuring a transaction for the best tax and legal benefits, to guiding a merger or acquisition process, and finally to selecting the best method for passing it on to the next generation. To me, the best part about being a lawyer is getting the opportunity to assist people in solving some of their most complex and important problems. I want to get to know you and your business, so I can provide you with the best assistance possible and be your partner every step of the way in achieving your goals.

My Approach

Ever since I was a little kid, I've had a love for sports, mainly basketball, and working as a team. I believe the best solutions are found by coming together for a common goal, buying in, and doing everything you can to achieve that goal. I carry this team-based approach with me into my law practice. I work with you as a teammate, coming together with you and buying in fully to the work to achieve your goals. On any team, the most important ingredient for success is communication. I strive to be available and attentive to my clients' needs, listen to what their goals and desired outcomes are, and provide my expertise and advice in an effective and easy-to-understand manner to achieve those goals. When the channels of communication are open and everyone is on the same page, results and solutions will follow.

More About Me

I received my B.S., magna cum laude, in Accounting from Truman State University in 2017. During my four years at Truman State, I was a student-athlete on the basketball team, so I'm always looking for pickup games in the Des Moines area. I received my J.D., with highest distinction, from Drake University Law School in 2020 and earned a certificate in Business Law. Upon graduation, I earned a membership to the Order of the Coif.

While at Drake Law, I was the Executive Editor of the Drake Law Review. My student Note, Leveling the Playing Field: Injury Reports, College Football, and Medical Privacy of Players, was published in Volume 68 of the Drake Law Review. I also participated on the Client Counseling competition team and finished as a semifinalist in the 2020 Client Counseling National Competition after winning a regional event. Additionally, I was a teaching assistant for the legal research and writing program at Drake Law and worked with Professor Keith Miller as a research assistant for his work in gaming law. I was selected to be a member of the Order of the Barristers, an organization recognizing the top oral advocates within a graduating class. I was admitted to the Iowa bar in 2020. When I'm not working, I enjoy being active, playing basketball and tennis, golfing, and traveling with my wife.
