Katie E. McKain is an associate attorney with BrownWinick and has a general practice, including, but not limited to real estate, banking, bankruptcy, and corporate transactions.
Katie has significant experience working on a variety of real estate transaction issues, including, but not limited to purchase and sale agreements, regulatory and finance work. She has also worked on drafting and negotiating national vendor contracts, operating agreements, management agreements and leasing contacts.
Katie has worked with large financial corporations to handle various real estate, banking and finance matters, along with title examinations, bankruptcy, and restructuring issues. She has advised taxpayers regarding tax deferred exchanges under Internal Revenue Code Section 1031 and coordinated closings to ensure compliance with the regulations.
Katie graduated from the University of Iowa in 2007, receiving her B.A. in Communication Studies and History. In 2009 she earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Kansas in Urban Planning and Real Estate Development with a specialization in housing and land use.
Katie received her J.D., with honors, from Drake University Law School in 2012.
Katie is a member of the Polk County and Iowa State Bar Associations, serving on the Corporate Counsel Section and Real Estate Section. She is also a member of the Polk County Women Attorneys. Katie was admitted to the Iowa bar in September 2012.
