Alex is a member of BrownWinick and serves on the firm's Management Committee. He joined the firm as an associate in 2000 and has served on several of the firm's committees as well as having served as co-chair of the Litigation Practice Group. Alex has a general practice, balanced in the areas of litigation, real estate, construction law , family law and banking law. Alex is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts within the state and has handled a wide variety of trials all across Iowa, as well as a number of arbitrations and mediations. Alex has a great deal of experience in banking law and in handling foreclosures and business disputes. He represents both individuals and businesses in litigation and transactions.

Alex is a member of the Polk County and Iowa State Bar Associations. He is active in the Altoona Chamber of Commerce, sits as a member on the Polk County Fee Arbitration Commission, Board member of the Southeast Polk Education Foundation, and serves on the Board of Directors of several Des Moines businesses. Alex and is also the President of the Polk County Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyer's Project Board. Alex is a graduate of the 2008-09 Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, a member of the Des Moines Business Record's 2009 Forty Under 40 Class and the 2010 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man of the Year Runner Up. Alex was selected for inclusion in the 2013 Great Plains SuperLawyers Rising Stars. He is also active and serves on several youth sports boards in the Southeast Polk area and is a member of SS John and Paul Parish in Altoona, Iowa.

Alex received his B.A. from Iowa State University and his J.D., with honors, from Drake University. He was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1999.
