    One of my objectives as an environmental law attorney is to make sure that my clients are not burdened by unanticipated costs after the purchase of contaminated real estate. Usually, this objective can be achieved by making sure that the real estate is fully tested prior to a purchase or by making sure that a solvent third party will handle the remediation of the contaminated property.   • Subpoenas: Your Rights and Obligations

    Even if you are never a party to a lawsuit, you may still be a witness or have important information that the parties to a lawsuit need or want. When that occurs, the attorneys for one of those parties will likely send you a subpoena requesting either your testimony or copies of documents and records that are in your possession. As the recipient of a subpoena, the law imposes obligations upon you for responding to that subpoena, and also offers you certain protections.
