Wage and Hour Changes that Affect Overtime

Location: Doubletree by Hilton, Cedar Rapids

Amanda Jansen, an employment law attorney at BrownWinick, will be speaking on "Wages and Hour Changes that Affect Overtime" at LeadingAge Iowa's 2016 Fall Leadership Conference on September 22, 2016. The Conference runs from September 21-22, 2016 and is sponsored by LeadingAge Iowa.

Big changes in FLSA regulations result in approximately 44,000 Iowans becoming newly entitled to overtime starting December 1, 2016. On May 18, 2016, the Department of Labor published new rules related to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. All covered employers must comply by December 1, 2016. Employees making less than $913 per week/$47,476 annually will be entitled to overtime whenever they work more than 40 hours in a workweek. In Amanda's breakout session, she will do a deep drive into the new rules and the issues that arise when reclassifying employees from salaried/exempt positions to newly non-exempt positions.  Amanda will also cover any late-breaking employment law updates that arise over the summer of 2016.
