Doing Business in Turkey - Legal Issues for American Companies

Christopher Sackett, an attorney at BrownWinick and Okah Or, an attorney at Pekin & Pekin, an Istanbul, Turkey law firm, provided a 40-minute joint presentation (via WebEx) on "Legal Issues for American Companies - Doing Business in Turkey" at the Turkish-American Business Forum. The Forum, held on Thursday, October 3, 2013, was a day-long program hosted by the Iowa Economic Development Authority, on export opportunities and developing existing business in Turkey. This Forum was offered in collaboration with: Niagara Foundation of Iowa, Turkish American Chamber of Commerce, The Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkiye (TUSKON), Turkish Consulate General of Chicago, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, and the International Traders of Iowa.

Experts from Turkey shared marketing knowledge and provided valuable insight in doing business in Turkey. Specialists drew on their understanding of business and legal practice and the economic and political climate. A panel of companies discussed current opportunities and issues with doing business in Turkey, where Chris shared the legal perspective for U.S. companies.
