BrownWinick's First Quarter Charity Project

BrownWinick's first quarterly charity project of 2019 benefited Joppa. Joppa is a local organization helping homeless people survive, find housing and rebuild their lives.

Throughout the month of January and February BrownWinick collected winter survival items, such as gloves, coats, hand/foot warmers, tarps and sleeping bags, and everyday personal items, such as toilet paper, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner and soap.

Along with collection of items, BrownWinick held a jeans day fundraiser for Joppa on Friday, January 25, 2019.

Joppa is a local organization helping homeless people survive, find housing and rebuild their lives. 1,000 people are homeless each day in Central Iowa. Around 350 of these people can find relief in transitional housing and another 400 can find a bed at one of the 11 emergency shelters. That leaves about 250 men and women with literally no options each night!

Joppa collaborates with other agencies, helps people access resources, and develops unique programs that fill gaps and meet unmet needs in outreach, housing and education. Joppa has helped 360 individual get off the streets since 2008 and more than 86% of these men, women, and children remain in housing.
