BrownWinick collected school supply items and donations during the two months and SOS was the selected charity for one of BrownWinick’s jean days where attorneys and staff are allowed to wear jeans in exchange for a donation.
The mission of SOS is to provide free items to teachers, students, and schools in need in the Greater Des Moines area. The national average for teachers’ out of pocket spending per school year is $500. Kids are bringing their supplies to school in plastic grocery bags because they cannot afford to get backpacks. Teachers are running out of basic school supplies halfway through the school year. SOS works to fill that gap. For more information on SOS, go to http://supportourschoolsia.org/index.html.
