Haley R. Van Loon is a member of BrownWinick and has served on the firm's Management Committee. Her practice focuses primarily on representing clients in two areas: energy/utilities/telecommunications and estate and trust litigation.
Haley as worked on various transactional and administrative/litigation matters related to energy, utilities and telecommunications. Haley’s experience includes certification, siting, negotiating power purchase and interconnection agreements, ratemaking, various compliance activities, and representing clients in front of the Iowa Utilities Board and state and federal courts. Haley has represented developers and customers, as well as other groups involved in energy and essential infrastructure.
Haley also represents corporate and individual executors, trustees, beneficiaries, family members and other parties in all types of probate, trust, and estate litigation matters including: will contests, trust disputes, guardianship and conservatorship disputes, undue influence/lack of capacity, and fiduciary misconduct.
Haley is a frequent speaker to attorneys and other professionals on various topics and has contributed to various articles, including those on Rooftop Solar and Distributed Generation.
Haley is a member of the Polk County, Iowa State and Energy Bar Associations. Haley obtained her B.A. in Political Science from Iowa State University in 2003. Haley was Phi Beta Kappa at Iowa State University. She received her J.D. in 2006 from the University of Iowa, with distinction. Haley was admitted to the Iowa bar in 2006. Haley is admitted to practice in the State of Iowa, the Federal District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Iowa and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
