Ellen M. Hames is an associate attorney with BrownWinick and has a general practice including, but not limited to, business and corporate law, environmental law, agribusiness, international business transactions, and assisting growth stage/start-up entities.
Ellen graduated from the University of Iowa in 2008, receiving her B.A. in International Studies, with a minor in Japanese. She received her J.D. in December 2015, with high honors, from Drake University Law School, and received a Business Law Certificate. While at Drake University, Ellen was a member of the Drake Law Review, and was an officer of the Business Law Society and a Student Ambassador. Ellen also served as a Judicial Extern for Iowa Supreme Court Justice Daryl Hecht, and was a law clerk at FBS Financial and the BrownWinick law firm. Ellen grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and was involved in the financial and education industries from 2008-2013 prior to attending law school.
Ellen is a member of the Polk County and Iowa State Bar Associations as well as Polk County Women Attorneys. She is on the Board of the Ankeny Family YMCA, serving on the membership committee. Ellen is a graduate of the Ankeny Leadership Institute Class of 2017-2018. Ellen was admitted to the Iowa bar in April 2016.
