Matthew H. McKinney, Attorney at Law
Matthew H. McKinney is an associate attorney with BrownWinick and is a member
of the firm's litigation practice group. Matthew focuses his practice primarily
in the areas of
commercial and civil litigation. Matthew's diverse range of business litigation experience
has included an array
business tort and related claims.
Matthew graduated from the University of Iowa in 2004, receiving his Bachelor
of Arts degree in Political Science and the University of Iowa Business School's
Certificate in Entrepreneurship. Thereafter, Matthew received his Juris Doctor,
cum laude, from Creighton University
School of Law, while also earning certificates of concentration in litigation,
and criminal law and procedure. Throughout law school, Matthew competed on Moot
Court and Mock Trial traveling
teams. While competing, he presented arguments to the Seventh, Eighth, and Federal
Circuit Court of Appeals. Matthew was also the sole recipient of the David A.
Svoboda Trial Advocacy award, recognizing excellence in trial advocacy.
Prior to joining BrownWinick in 2010, Matthew worked with Tiffany & Bosco,
P.A., in Phoenix, Arizona as an associate attorney. Matthew is also a former prosecutor,
serving the State of Iowa as an Assistant
Polk County Attorney under the direction of John P. Sarcone.
Matthew is admitted to practice in both the State of Arizona (admitted 2008)
and the State of Iowa (admitted 2007). Matthew previously served as a member of
the Board of Directors and as Vice
President-Elect for the Arizona Small Business Association (2009-2010). He has
also served as a Director and Treasurer for the Maricopa County Bar Association's
Corporate Counsel Division (2009-2010). Matthew is currently a member of the Polk
County Bar Association, West Des Moines
Chamber of Commerce and the Des Moines Downtown Chamber.
