The Perils and Pitfalls of Drug Testing

Location: WEBINAR - Master Builders of Iowa Members ONLY

Details

BrownWinick employment attorney Ann Holden Kendell will address "The Perils and Pitfalls of Drug Testing" in a one-hour WEBINAR on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. This WEBINAR is sponsored by Master Builders of Iowa (MBI) and is only offered to their members.

Most employers are aware Iowa law permits private employers to conduct drug testing of employment applicants and employees. What many employers do not know, however, is that the law includes a slew of procedural requirements and restrictions on who can be tested, when they can be tested, and under what circumstances the employer can require a test. Even more troubling, if an aggrieved person proves an employer violated the complicated drug testing law, the employer may be on the hook for the other person's attorney's fees.

This WEBINAR will break down Iowa's complex drug testing law with easily-digestible tips and warnings. The WEBINAR will cover specific areas of concern for Iowa employers, including the requirements for establishing a testing program, the circumstances under which testing is permitted, the testing procedures required by law, the due  process employers are required to provide to employees and applicants, and the penalties employers face for violating the law.
