Alice Eastman Helle, Attorney at Law
Alice E. Helle is a member of BrownWinick. She practices in the
employee benefits area, including both ERISA and governmental plans. She also practices
in the area of adoption law, handling both private terminations of parental rights
and adoption finalizations.
Alice has been selected for inclusion in
The Best Lawyers in America in the area of employee benefits law for more than 10 years. Alice was a claims
representative with
the Social Security Administration from 1973 to 1985. She is a frequent speaker
on employee benefit topics, including employer obligations under healthcare reform.
Alice is the attorney of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry's
Healthcare
Reform Resource Panel.
In 2009, Alice was selected to become an Iowa Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Selection of a Fellow in the American Bar Foundation is recognition of a lawyer
whose professional, public and private career has demonstrated outstanding dedication
to their community, traditions of their legal profession and maintains the objectives
of the American Bar Association. Also in 2009, Alice was nominated to become a
Fellow of the Iowa State Bar Foundation. Membership in Iowa State Bar Foundation
is by nomination and invitation only and is limited to members of the Iowa State
Bar Association who have demonstrated their dedication to their profession and
communities.
Alice is also active in community affairs. She is a member of the Soroptimist
International of Des Moines, where Alice served as President from 2005-2007. Alice
has also served on the board of the Polk County Bar Association and on the Board
of Governors of the Iowa State Bar Association.
Alice received her B.S degree from Iowa State University in 1973. She received
her J.D. from Drake University in 1988. She was Executive Editor of the
Drake Law Review and a member of the
Order of the Coif. She was also the recipient of the Iowa State Bar Association Graduating Senior
Award. She was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1988, and joined BrownWinick that year.
